All the complexity of the project is emerging. And we’re facing it by making countless meetings, live conferences on Skype between Italy and Mozambique, on the phone, in Milan, at Alcatraz.

riunione

The theatrical performance might offend, disrespect, we must not diminish the figure of curanderos and of the traditional matrons in any way, we must pay attention to the different religions: Catholic, Muslim and Animist.

The question most frequently asked in our meetings is: “What will the performance be about?” But we are only speculating, coming up with some ideas.

A dance? Maybe with mosquito nets to explain that they are to be used against mosquitoes and not as fishing nets.

Reciting a monologue?

And the sets? There is no electricity, no lights or microphones in the villages, the sets should be easily assembled and disassembled, transportable first by plane and then by car.
riunioni

And the language … the show will be in Swahili, a language that is known in the whole area of the north of the country but unknown in Maputo, where there will be the closing performance of the tour. So there must be parts in Portuguese …

Doubts and many questions: the purpose of the next mission in Mozambique will be to give some answers.

Seeing performances in the villages we will understand better how  theater works over there, what they offer, if they write texts or improvise. It will be fundamental to understand the points of union with the theater of Maputo of which we have a fairly accurate idea (educational, instructive theater).

Dates for the next mission? Yet to be decided.

Participants? Yet to be decided.

But I’m there.
