In and around Perugia

7.11 am. I hear Adelino (junior) reading the script of the performance, with Felix who is correcting him. Yesterday’s video really did have an effect on them! 🙂
And in fact the rehearsal, which is being filmed again today, was much, much, much better, showing that the performance works, it has a structure, and that the Mozambicans have “absorbed” it. I would like to see it after about a hundred rehearsals and readings…
Jacopo explains that the film clearly shows how the actors are enjoying themselves, and if the actors enjoy themselves, the audience does too.
We are at the point where the actors are told how to behave when the audience laughs, they have to let the laughs stop without speaking over them, otherwise the next lines are lost.
Yes, yes, it’s going well!

Afternoon, a visit to Perugia and shopping. There is an “Etruscan well” in Perugia, the only one in the world. 25 metres deep, it was made something like 2,400 years ago to supply clean water to the city. An impressive, gigantic piece of hydraulic engineering!
We brought the Mozambicans here to let them see that, if they want, water problems can be solved…
We get back into the car and…head towards the Shopping Centre. Again! (see first session)
We gave the group a small part of their salaries (every actor who takes part in the project is paid!), and their request was simple: take us shopping!
Have you ever gone into an electronics shop and asked the sales assistant for 4 model XFGT482 smartphones? (without mentioning any existing brands and models)
He looks at me, then: “Four?”
“Yes, all the same kind. Sorry, wait… make it five!”
As I was leaving, I asked him if he had ever sold mobile phones by the kilo before…
