Mario Pirovano – Director of Spettacolo Teatrale (Theatre Performances)
“I had been living in London for almost ten years. One evening I went to the ‘Riverside Studios’ theatre to see “Mister Buffo” by Dario Fo and Franca Rame: I was left speechless.
The atmospheres and situations of my farming childhood came back to me in the language, gestures, characters and popular stories of that work. I immediately recognised myself in the condemnation of injustice, the desire for release and irony, aware of the social and artistic value of the text. I returned every evening to the theatre to see the presentation and finally meet Dario Fo and Franca Rame. From that moment I became part of their company, taking on different roles: translator, head of the spreading of their publishing material, electrical assistant, stagehand assistant, stage director, director’s assistant, background actor…”
Today Mario is a successful actor at an international level! He has a wonderful relationship with the Mozambique actors, guiding them during the performance rehearsals with patience and an extraordinary passion.
