Visit to the village of Quirindi

Confusion, confusion, confusion, too much confusion in Quirindi today. They have warned us that it is a village with a Muslim majority and with a very strong religious attachment.
We spoke to some elderly men, but I did not understand who they were, at some point I noticed that we were literally surrounded …
3,500 inhabitants, there is no radio, no electricity, no health center (only traditional midwives and an Elementary Multipurpose Agent ), there are no theatrical activities or anything like that, just dances organized by the students of the school and some other dances performed at weddings.
Ah, the Cinemovel passed by once, a travelling educational film that raises awareness of health and healthcare.
There is the mosque, one of the old men says with pride that 90% of the children in the village can read because they learn from the Koran.
After NOT having been able to talk to the villagers, not having been able to see where the mango tree was, under which the community comes together, we get back into the car and we drive away.
Cinemovel
Brief digression on Cinemovel. I have found out that this is an Italian project, born in 1997 in Madagascar from an idea of Elisabetta Antognoni and Nello Ferrieri.
Beautiful words posted in their website (http://cinemovel.tv/): “The caravan of modern travellers crosses the roads of Africa and stops by in villages and remote areas to set up an open air cinema and to screen classic films, African films and films for children. The circus of cinema is a place for exchange, thanks to the socialising nature of cinema, its universal value and the strong ability of moving images to communicate to the audience. Cinemovel especially cares for children, the youngest public that sees films in a special way.”
Cinemovel arrives in Mozambique in 2001 where Mozambican, American and European films for adults and children are shown throughout the country. The success is incredible, Cinemovel also becomes a tool of preventive health care and of fight against poverty.
Today there is also a Cinemovel Foundation.
